Loyd Glenwood “Glen” Blanton

Loyd Glenwood “Glen” Blanton passed away on July 10, 2005, after a lengthy illness. He was born on Nov. 25, 1920, in the town of Rivermines, St. Francis County, Mo.

The family moved to Arizona in 1930 and then to Tempe in 1935. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He was present when the first flag was raised on Iwo Jima on Feb. 23, 1945. After he got out of the service, he moved to Sedona, where he owned one of the first filling station/restaurant/stores, later moving to uptown Sedona where he was the first owner of the Oak Creek Market. He retired in Prescott Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Sarah Blanton; his first wife, Dorothea; a daughter, Barbara; three brothers, Harold, Jim and Bill; and his sister, Ruth Myers. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Joyce; daughters, Diane Johnson (Jim), Lindy Strand, and Glenda Recio (Ronnie); sons, Robert (Josephine) and Rick (Kerrie); 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Jr., Ralph and Charles; and five step-children, Dottie Halter, Patti Kimball, Shirley Seitz, David Perkins and Nick Perkins.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, July 15th, at Sunrise Mortuary, 8167 E. Highway 69.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Prescott Valley Samaritan Center.

Rae Deane Wilhelm

Rae Deane Wilhelm, age 86, of Prescott, passed away on July 12, 2005. She was born to Ray and Mabel Klingler of Paulding, Ohio, in 1919.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lou Wilhelm, and her grandson, Michael Wilhelm. She is survived by her sons, Gerald A. Wilhelm (Joyce) of Peoria, James A. Wilhelm (Linda) of Prescott; a daughter, Marcia Jean Hayes (Ramey) of Phoenix; her sister, Eloise Funk of Scottsdale; and brother, Howard Klingler of West Unity, Ohio. She also had 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She received excellent, loving care during her final months from Judy Richardson, Marie and Wolfgang Martin at Reminisce Inn in Peoria.

A Rosary will take place at 7 p.m. today, July 15, with visitation until 8 p.m., at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale. Services will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7th Street and Baseline, Phoenix. Private interment in Peeples Valley.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave., Suite A-100, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

Phyllis J. Henning

Phyllis J. Henning, 72, of Prescott, born May 3, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in Prescott.

Services are pending at Sunrise Funeral Home.

Linda Alice Morgan

Linda Alice Morgan, 63, of Prescott Valley, born Feb. 22, 1942, in Los Angeles, Calif., died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott.

Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at the Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel in Prescott

Valley, followed by interment at 2 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Phoenix, Pinnacle Peak and Cave Creek Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Linda’s name be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Chapter, 315 South 48th St., Suite 101, Tempe, AZ 85281.

James Virgil Atkins

James Virgil Atkins, 62, of Prescott Valley, born Jan. 13, 1943, in Lewisburg, Tenn., died Monday, July 11, 2005, in Prescott Valley.

Private cremation will take place at the Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott

Edwin Dwight Fielder

Edwin Dwight Fielder, 76, of Prescott, born May 19, 1929, in Boise, Idaho, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott.

Private cremation will be at the Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Marion Czech

Marion Czech, 89, of Prescott, born Feb. 2, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Prescott.

Private cremation will take place at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. The family is planning a private memorial funeral Mass at a later date.
