CVHS Golf team wins Tournament
Salt River loses by 87 strokes, on home course
The Chino Valley High School golf team traveled to the Salt River High Schools golf course in Cypress to play an 18-hole course on March 26.
The time it took to complete this course was well worth the wait. The CVHS team blew the Salt River team off the course, beating them by an astounding 87 strokes. Haddow said she was very pleased with the teams performance.
We kept the ball in play off the tee, she said and we were sharper around the greens.
Joey Chester had a low score of only 77 strokes, Nate Goad and Cody Bennett both came in with 86, Mike Opitz finished with 88 strokes and Stacy Haddow completed the course with a total of 102 strokes.
Haddow said the team had really improved.
Our putting was very good, she said. And if you can get it (the ball) off the tee and putt well thats 3/4 of the game.
Taking the best four out of five scores gives the team a grand total score of 337 strokes for the win against Salt River High School.
After competing in Wickenburg the team traveled to Sedona to play in four-team tournament, which took place at the Oak Creek Country Club.
The team placed third with everyone on the team scoring in the 100 range. Nate Goad with 100, Joey Chester, 101, Cody Bennett, 110, Stacy Haddow, 112, and Morgan Reichert with 115. The final scores were Sedona in first place with 451, Prescott Christian Academy with 514, Chino Valley with 528, and Williams at 569.
Coach Haddow said she was very proud of them and how they performed in Sedona.
They are learning at each tournament and I appreciate the effort they have been giving, she said. They have great positive attitudes and never give up.
The golf team plays again in River Valley on April 4 and in Camp Verde on April 7.
