She talks with the homeowner, visits the home, sees what they have and makes suggestions.
She works with specialists in the field (who paint, do drywall work, put up wallpaper, etc.), so she can hire people to perform the work she suggests, if that's what the homeowners want.
"We can handle pretty much anything they want done," she said.
And, she added, "I keep working with them until we can achieve what we want."
L.J. can help homeowners creatively redecorate one room (even a bathroom) or an entire house.
For one client, Kathy Svendsen, L.J. recently redecorated three bathrooms, a kitchen and the master bedroom. While L.J. said it took months to find the perfect shower curtain (Svendsen wanted the bathroom décor to match a watercolor she'd purchased), she said she liked the results.
And Svendsen said L.J. is "marvelous."
"I love art work, but I just have no sense of color," Svendsen said.
She called the day she met L.J. at a framing shop "a lucky day," because once L.J. started framing and got a feel for Svendsen's house, she "tied it all together," Svendsen said.
"It's just something my mind does," L.J. said of her talent for creative redecorating. "It's not even second nature to me. It's pretty much first nature."
