Club donates quilt to wildfire academy
Special to the Review/Joanna Dodder
The Chino Valley Quilt Guild members created and donated this one-of-a-kind quilt to the Arizona Wildfire Academy to benefit its memorial scholarship program. These quilters, pictured with Academy Coordinator Kori Kirkpatrick in the middle, donated more than 100 hours to create the blocks that relate to wildfire and forests, saying they appreciate the academy's efforts to train firefighters and appreciate firefighters' efforts to protect forests and communities. One-dollar raffle tickets for the quilt are on sale today through Friday at the academy, which is taking place at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The public also is welcome to buy raffle tickets by stopping by ERAU's Davis Learning Center Auditorium, Room #1, on weekdays. The winning ticket will be selected at the academy's Friday night reception, but people don't have to be present to win. The Quilt Guild meets at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at Hope Lutheran Church in Chino Valley, and everyone is welcome.
