HUSD to vote on new assignment for BMHS principal
PRESCOTT VALLEY – Based on low student enrollment at Bradshaw Mountain Middle School and Humboldt Elementary School, the Humboldt Unified School District is likely to approve a staffing proposal for the 2004-05 school year that reassigns BMMS Principal Brian Buchholtz to a shared (dual) principalship at both schools.
The assignment, according to Superintendent Henry Schmitt, depends on Buchholtz's qualifications and the needs of HUSD.
"While I would always desire to have a full-time principal at each school, the financial and educational benefits warrant this reassignment," Schmitt wrote in a recent letter to Buchholtz.
If the HUSD governing board approves Schmitt's recommendation at its meeting Tuesday, a teacher-on-assignment at Humboldt Elementary School would provide the daily administrative duties under the direct supervision of Buchholtz.
Also on the agenda for the governing board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday:
• Draft staffing proposals for the 2004-05 school year;
• Adoption of a resolution to designate March as Youth Art Month;
• Discussion on the 2004-05 calendar committee;
• Discussion on the district's education foundation template;
• A vote on a request for horizontal movement on the nurse's salary schedule.
At its 6 p.m. work session on Tuesday, the governing board is to discuss areas for improvement on the board's self-evaluations.
The study session and regular board meetings will be at the Prescott Valley Magistrate Court, 7501 E. Civic Circle.
