The Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Hermann Michael, will perform at the Yavapai College Performance Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16.
There is a pre-concert talk at 2 p.m., for this and all concerts, for all ticket holders. For this concert, individual tickets will only be available at the ticket window at the concert hall, not at the Yavapai Symphony Association office.
The first piece is the Overture to "The Marriage of Figaro," which people believe Mozart wrote only two days before its first performance.
The second piece, Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, which Ludwig van Beethoven composed, will feature guest pianist Stewart Goodyear, who recently toured with the Toronto Symphony. The Toronto native has a master's degree from Juliard.
The final piece is Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, compoer Felix Mendelssohn labeled Scottish after an extended trip through Scotland. Even though the Scottish symphony is numbered the third, it was actually his fifth symphony.
