Obituary: Eugene W. Taylor
Eugene W. Taylor, 78, died Thursday evening, June 5, 2003, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott. He was born July 5, 1924, in Cushing, Okla., the son of Oscar and Bertha (Gibson) Taylor.
Eugene served his country during World War II in the Navy and during the Korean War in the Air Force. He was a career serviceman, completing 20 years in the military. Eugene became an air traffic controller and worked at the Prescott Flight Service Center where he retired. Eugene moved to Phoenix from Tripoli, Libya, in 1964 and to Prescott in 1970.
He was a member of The Heights Church in Prescott. Eugene enjoyed his church family and friends and his family as well as flying. Eugene spent many happy hours on the banks of rivers fishing with his son. He was proud of his grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his son, Dale and his wife, Donna Taylor of Lindengurst, Ill.; and his sister, Edna McLaughlin of Salina, Ore. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Crystal and Christopher;
and his first great-grandchild, which is due this month; as well as a niece, Sue Cozens of Tempe, Ariz.
A visitation with family present was held on Saturday, June 7, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, and a Celebration
of Eugene's Life will be held today, Sunday, June 8, at 3 p.m., at The Height's Church, 209 North Montezuma in Prescott with Rev. Lee Wiggins officiating. Concluding graveside services will be
held at Fairlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Cushing, Okla., on Wednesday, June 11, at 1 p.m. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
