Convicted murderer's fate rests with jury

PRESCOTT – The life of Homer Roseberry, a 59-year-old convicted murder, is now in the hands of 12 jurors.

The jury began to deliberate Thursday afternoon after the defense and the prosecution concluded their arguments on whether the defendant deserves life in prison or the ultimate punishment.

Roseberry is the first Yavapai County defendant to face the death penalty at the hands of a jury rather than a judge, which is a new statutory provision that the Legislature enacted recently as a result of a U.S Supreme Court decision.
