Bill Bakley, a teacher at Lake Valley Elementary, tells bottle-rocket contestants how to organize the rockets for firing.
Two of the Kindergarten Shooting Stars – Joanna Ledesma, 5, and Nicole Wyatt, 6 – talked about what they studied during Space Week.
"We learned about the moon and that people have been up there," Joanna said.
"And the sun and the planets, and we made stars on sticks for the parade," Nicole said.
Hollis said one of the most popular Space Week activities was eating dehydrated ice cream, the same kind that Apollo astronauts ate in space.
"It gave them a taste of what a real astronaut's life is like," she said.
