Legendary Pine Cone Inn changes hands<BR>

PRESCOTT – After more than half a century, the Branch family passed their Pine Cone Inn tradition over to new owners this past Friday.

Since Jack and Laura Branch took over the Pine Cone from Bob Dunbar in 1947, the White Spar hot spot has drawn generations of customers looking for a good meal and a good time with good people.

And it has always been a family affair, until Friday, when son Twig Branch and his wife, Linda, closed on a deal to sell it to Laura and Lars Hamilton and the Ebarb family.

Twig, who began earning his keep around the place at the age of 5 by sweeping the dance floor, said that his health drove him to sell the Pine Cone.

"I need to get out of the business," he explained.

As for his future plans, Twig first said that he had "absolutely none," but later said he would eventually get a job, then, after two weeks, he was going to call in sick for the first time in 50 years.
