Fire razes home in Mountain Club

PRESCOTT – No one suffered injuries this morning in a fire that destroyed a 3,500-square-foot home that is under construction and three weeks away from completion in the Mountain Club area in Prescott.

Prescott Fire Department (PFD) spokesman Dave Peterson said that at around 2:30 a.m. heavy smoke was coming out of the structure. He said shortly thereafter it vented through the roof and the home flared up.

"It was basically fully involved," he said. "They fought it from the defensive point rather than offensive because they knew that no one was in there."

He said three PFD fire trucks, a Central Yavapai Fire District water tender and fire truck, a battalion chief and a utility truck responded to the scene. The fire is still under investigation. Officials estimated the damage to be about $350,000.
