Support for stroke survivors<BR>New group focuses on rebuilding communication, language skills

PRESCOTT – To help stroke survivors and their families deal with this life-changing experience, Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) and Prescott Samaritan Village recently started an aphasia support group.

Speech language pathologist Lisa Crujido, M.S., CCC, from YRMC said not every person who has a stroke gets aphasia, which she explains as the "loss of language." The most common types for those who get aphasia are expressive and receptive.
