Student count increases at PUSD
Kapp sees 'returning enrollment'
PRESCOTT – With a recent student count only three shy of this past year's tally, Prescott Unified School District (PUSD) Superintendent Kevin J. Kapp told Governing Board members Tuesday night that he sees "a trend of returning enrollment" to the district's eight schools.
As of March 28, PUSD had 2,140 students in elementary school, 1,224 in middle school, 1,509 in high school, 13 homebound and 49 in preschool, for a total of 4,935. On March 30, 2001, the total was 4,938.
The new number is up slightly over this year's 40th day count, which was about 1 percent less than the previous year. Kapp credited the recent gain to marketing district programs and schools.
