Martha Yount Caldwell
Martha Yount Caldwell, 89, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Meadow Park Care Center, Prescott.
She was born June 7, 1912, in Prescott, to Dr. Clarence and Clara (Criley) Yount Sr.
Mrs. Caldwell, whose father was one of Prescott's first surgeons, grew up in Prescott and graduated from Prescott High School. She also graduated from the University of Arizona, and taught school in the one-room schoolhouse in Peeples Valley.
She also set up first aid stations in Yavapai County and served as an officer in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Mrs. Caldwell married Major Millard Frank Caldwell. She served as Prescott's first female police officer and then returned to teaching. She taught fourth grade at Lincoln School for 22 years.
She enjoyed her family, music, church, Eastern Star, Westerners and her friends.
Surviving are her son, Martin; and four grandchildren.
A celebration of Mrs. Caldwell's life will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church, 206 E. Gurley, Prescott.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the music or athletic programs at Prescott High School, 1050 N. Ruth St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Carl S. Johnson
Carl S. Johnson, 90, of Cordes Lakes, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Prescott.
He was born Jan. 5, 1911, in Jackson County, Mo., to Tom and Lilly (Houston) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson married Loubelle in Kansas City, Mo., 55 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He worked for several years as a mechanic and welder at Peter Built in Montana. He was a member of American Legion #122 in Cordes Lakes and enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Patsy Schrimp of Stockton, Calif.; son, William of Grass Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There were private family services. Sunrise Funeral Home and Crematory helped the family with arrangements.
Makala Belle McMurray
Newborn Makala Belle McMurray was born and died on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in Prescott.
Surviving are her parents, David and Carrie (Stringer) McMurray; grandparents, Kevin Kelley, Nana Clayton and Robert and Jean Stringer; and great-grandparents, Alma Harper, Ida Powers and Sara McMurray.
There were private family services.

Marie A. Gwinn
Marie A. Gwinn, 80, of Tucson, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in Tucson.
She was born March 9, 1921, in Saginaw, Mich.
Mrs. Gwinn was a former Prescott resident, where she was a member of the Prescott First Church of the Nazarene for 16 years.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene; daughter, Carol Crowder of San Manuel; two sisters and two brothers; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m. today at Redwood Memorial Gardens, Dewey. Pastor Ed McDonald of the Prescott First Church of the Nazarene officiated.
