Dorothy A. Shea

Dorothy A. Shea, 80, of Prescott Valley, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Prescott Samaritan Village.

She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Dundee, Mich., to Stanley B. and Anngennette (Heidt) Wells.

Mrs. Shea married her husband, Franklin, on July 19, 1946, in Napoleon, Ohio. She worked for the U.S. Post Office in Van Nuys, Calif., before retiring in 1976.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the VFW Ladies Auxillary #10227. Mrs. Shea enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving are her daughters, Victoria Pinkley of Prescott Valley, Julie Schneider of Valencia, Calif., and Doris Goad of Lansing, Mich.; son, Richard of Morris Plains, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, in 1993, and daughter, Kathleen Schwartz, in 1996.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Prescott Samaritan Village. Graveside services will be at a later date in Ridgeway, Mich.

Barbara Grace Stradel

Barbara Grace Stradel, 86, of Mayer, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Prescott.

She was born April 2, 1915, in Faithhorn, Mich., to George and Elizabeth (Dunn) Kupsch.

Mrs. Stradel moved to Arizona from Green Bay, Wis., in 1992. She was a former member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Green Bay. She enjoyed people, traveling, shopping and working in sales.

Surviving are her sons, George Weitzel Jr.; sisters, Marcella Duquaine of Green Bay, Wis., and Katherine Wetterstrom of Bay City, Mich.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Francis, 14 years ago, son, Stanley Bunker, and three grandchildren.

There will be memorial services in Wisconsin at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church, 20135 Stage Coach Trail, Cordes Lakes, AZ 86333.

Volita Riddle

Volita Riddle, 89, of Prescott, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in Prescott.

She was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Howard and Mayme Gibson.

Mrs. Riddle was a volunteer nurse's aide during World War II, and was an accountant for an engineering firm in Albuquerque, N.M.

She was a member of the Unity Church in Prescott, and enjoyed fishing, playing bridge and all sports.

Surviving are her sons, William of Ben Wheeler, Texas and James of Prescott; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William Riddle, in November 1974, and a grandson in 1992.

Private services are pending.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, AZ 86312.

Joanne Lenton

Joanne Lenton, 68, of Prescott, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Prescott.

She was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Elvins, Mo., to Virginia V. Seabough.

Mrs. Lenton graduated from Phoenix College and Rio Salado College. She worked in the nursing department at Massilon Ohio State Hospital.

In addition to being a private duty nurse, she was an artist who specialized in ceramics and stained glass. Mrs. Lenton was proudest of sponsoring a child, Odongo, through the Save a Child Foundation in Uganda.

Surviving are her husband, Edward; daughter, Deborah Hatjes of Prescott; sons, George Hatjes of High Point, N.C., Gust Hatjes of San Jose, Calif., and Michael Hatjes of Campbell, Calif.; sister, Marcella Steeves of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Bob Howell and Darrell Howell, both of Denver, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Prescott.

The family suggests memorial contributions to any of the following organizations: American Cancer Society, 2724 E. Larkin, Ste. 9, Flagstaff, AZ 86001; American Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell, Phoenix, AZ 85003; and American Heart Association, 2702 N. Third St., Ste. 4015, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
