Bogus bills lead to arrest of Dewey pair
Prescott Valley police arrested two Dewey residents Friday on several charges, including forgery, after a bank in Prescott Valley reported an influx in the appearance of counterfeit $20 bills, according to Prescott Valley police officials.
Police said their investigation linked Bret Raymond Laurier, 34, and Jennifer Dawn Frazier, 26, to the alleged counterfeiting. A search of their home on South Wind River Drive allegedly revealed evidence of counterfeiting, counterfeit bills similar to those found at the bank, drugs and drug paraphernalia. Deputies from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrests.
After interviewing the two suspects, officers booked them into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of forgery, criminal possession of forgery devices, fraudulent schemes, criminal simulation, possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The matter is still under investigation, and Prescott Valley police have notified the U.S. Secret Service of their findings.
