Dedicated educators help mold kids' lives

The men and women of the MUSD staff have repeatedly said MUSD students are a cut above the rest. They believe it and, by extension, the kids will believe it.

The teachers' and administrators' unswerving support of Mayer area young people is a testament to their dedication and interest in seeing these kids grow into caring, responsible adults. This attitude of pride and school spirit is bound to rub off on the students.

When a young person is given firm, caring guidance tempered with respect from adults, the all-too-prevalent attitude of teen apathy will either be eliminated or at least curtailed. The staff at MUSD projects this to the students every day.

Teachers are quite possibly the largest group of unsung heroes in American Society today. Five days a week we trust them with our most precious possessions and five nights a week we expect them to send our little darlings back to us without a scratch. Their enthusiasm can and does affect the minds and actions of our kids.

With this in mind, parents should support the professionals they employ to teach their children. A sea of empty seats at school board meetings will do nothing to help steer these dedicated people toward better education for the students. All members of the community have something to contribute to the educational process. The hard working people at MUSD want, need and deserve your help in creating, implementing and participating in programs that will allow our young people to grow into adults we can all be proud of.
