Ball kids needed for pro tourney;<BR>tax credit deadline

Both the men's and women's professional tennis tournaments at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort are rapidly approaching, which means it's time for you to think about putting the dates you want to go on your calendar.

The State Farm Women's Tennis Classic runs Saturday, February 23 through Sunday, March 3, followed by the Men's Franklin Templeton Tennis Classic March 4 through the 10.

The top women players who have committed to play are the No. 2 and No. 2 players in the world, Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriati, as well as Serena Williams and the Belgium Kim Clijsters, who has come on strong this past year.

Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras are the two big names for the men's tournament. Their 5 set quarterfinals match at the US Open last year showed the fire is still alive when they meet each other. Greg Rusedski, who still boasts the fastest serve on the men's tour (149 mph), will be there as well as Germany's Tommy Haas who finished in the top 10 this year.

You won't get a better chance to be up front and cozy with many of the top tennis players in the world than in Scottsdale, you'll feel as if you're almost on the court with them at this smaller stadium court. So make your reservations early by calling, 480-922-0222.

Want To Be A Ballkid for the Pros?

On that same note, if you're 12 years or older and would like to participate as a ballkid, rubbing elbows with the top tennis players in the world and meeting other kids who love tennis, you need to fax the following information to the Scottsdale Ranch Park ASAP. Fax number: 480-312-8404.

Name; Parent's Name(s); Date of Birth; Address; City/State/Zip; Home Phone; E-mail.

As well as being 12 years of age or older, you must have the grades and time available to miss at least 2 days of school per tournament to participate. You will be sent the training schedule dates and times that will be held at the Scottsdale Ranch Park.

This is a great opportunity for kids to see what professional tennis is all about. If you have more questions, call 480-312-7774. It'd be nice to have a team of kids from the Prescott area.
