Cecilia Anna Dakan

Cecilia Anna Dakan, 90, a resident of Prescott since 1982, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, in Prescott.

She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Fort Logan, Colo., to George A. and Alwina (Meyer) Bittrick.

Mrs. Dakan worked as a cook for the U.S. Air Force, and then as a clerk-typist for the U.S. Navy for many years, retiring in 1978. In 1982 she and her husband, John, moved to Prescott from El Cajon, Calif.

Survivors include son, Richard Carlson of Prescott; daughter, Rosemarie Benjamin of Fremont, Neb.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, John, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Prescott.

Private cremation was at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. A private burial will be with her husband in the Aztlan Masonic Lodge Cemetery in Prescott.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.

John Howard Dakan

John Howard Dakan, 86, a resident of Prescott since 1982, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Prescott.

He was born May 26, 1914, in Beaver City, Neb., to Everett and Avis (Fowler) Dakan.

Mr. Dakan was a World War II Army veteran. He married his wife Cecilia Anna Bittrich in 1965. He was a cook for San Diego County Juvenile Hall. He retired in 1979 and the couple moved to Prescott in 1982 from El Cajon, Calif.

Mr. Dakan was a member of Arcadia Lodge #278, F. & A.M. in Arcadia, Calif.

Survivors include stepson Richard Carlson of Prescott; stepdaughter, Rosemarie Benjamin of Fremont, Neb.; brother, Norman of San Antonio, Texas; and sister, Peggy Funk of Cottonwood.

His wife, Cecilia Anna Dakan, died Sunday, Oct.. 15, 2000.

Private cremation was at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. Burial will be in the Aztlan Lodge Masonic Cemetery in Prescott.

Earl Meeler

Earl Meeler, 43, of Phoenix, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, in Phoenix.

He was born Oct. 24, 1956, in San Bernardino, Calif., to John and Anna (Fahey) Meeler.

Mr. Meeler had owned his own auto detail shop, Earl's Top and Trim, in Denver, Colo., for 15 years.

Survivors include his mother, Anna Meeler of Prescott Valley; brothers, Christopher of Valley, Glenn of Tempe, and Mark of Yucca Valley; sisters, Eileen Scheffing of Huntington Beach, Calif., Judith Meeler of Grass Valley, Calif., Mary Erickson of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Pricilla Murchison of Tucson.

His father preceded him in death in 1994.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley. A Christian burial will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. John Shetler officiating.

Sunrise Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
