The next Dewey-Humboldt Historical Society Outing will be a relaxing weekday outing to
Horsethief Basin Recreation Area high in the Bradshaw Mts south of Crown King. Bring a picnic
lunch to enjoy along side Horsethief Lake on Wednesday 25th September weather permitting.
We’ll gather near the Outdoor Museum Exhibits at Mortimer Farms parking lot (Rt 69 & 169)
starting at 9:00 AM and will be on the road no later than 9:30 AM.
This will be a pleasant 4-Wheel Drive trip with NO brush or scratches, just a nice easy rolling
roads for the most part. There are sections of the road that are deeply rutted, but not excessively
rocky. No problem for longer wheelbase vehicles as long as you have a bit of clearance. It will take
us about 2 ½ hours to arrive at our destination. Stay as long as you like, we may go out to
Horsethief Lookout and perhaps stop back at Crown King on the way home.
The outing, sponsored by the Dewey-Humboldt Historical Society is open to the public and
anyone interested in learning more about local history. If you’d like to join us – please respond via
e-mail to TheDesertRat@mac.com so you’ll get all the updates, any schedule changes and so
forth.
