The spectacular landscapes of the American West hold more than just scenery; they are also a window into earth history. The varied rocks of the Rockies, Colorado Plateau, the Basin and Range and the Pacific Borderland record the former presence of tropical seas in Utah and Nevada, smoking volcanoes in California and Arizona, as well as ancient ecosystems with dinosaurs and large mammals. Join geologist Wayne Ranney as he explains the fascinating story of the formation of our western landscapes. He will be signing copies of his new book, co-authored with Dr. Ron Blakey, Ancient Landscapes of Western North America.Geology Talks is hosted by the Central Arizona Geology Club and presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library. This event includes an opportunity to ““show and tell”“ and ask questions of Geology Club members.
