Come to the Natural History Institute's Art and Science Open House, where we'll celebrate art from the Age of Exploration and Discovery, and give you a “behind the scenes” tour of our scientific collections. Event highlights include a talk by Jen Chandler: "Art of Natural History: Understanding the Josephine Michell Arader Natural History Print Collection", at 5:00PM in our gallery. This historically significant collection of original hand-colored etchings, engravings, and lithographs, spans the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries. It includes the works of John James Audubon, Elizabeth Blackwell, Mark Catesby, Leonhart Fuchs, John Gould, Maria Sibylla Merian, Pierre-Joseph Redouté, among others.
