The would-be burglars attempted to force open the store’s safe, but were unable to do so and left without accessing any deposits.

The thieves were able to steal video surveillance equipment and some items they pilfered from behind the checkout counter, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

The Sheriff’s Office said the burglars left through an emergency door, setting off the alarm. Detectives found a shoe impression and tracked it back to the Cordes Junction Motel in the 1900 block of Hitching Post Way. No one was located during the initial investigation, according to the news release.
