She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Meyers, and is survived by her daughter, Linda, and son, Steven; son-in-law, Joel, and daughter-in-law, Gaylyn; grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Karen, and Jeffrey; and great-granddaughter, Liora.

In 1926, Shirley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Estelle Gratsch and Elmer Herzog. She married Stanley at age 19. Shirley later earned a masters degree, worked as a speech and language specialist for the mentally challenged, and owned and operated a nursery school. When she was 50, Stanley died of a brain tumor. In 1992, Shirley retired to Prescott, Arizona, which she called home for 23 years.

In Prescott, she loved volunteering for Yavapai Regional Medical Center, hospice, and many other organizations.

She took classes at Yavapai College, read extensively, traveled worldwide, and collected antiques. She left Prescott in 2015 to be closer to her family.

Shirley was proud of her family’s accomplishments, treasured her friends and pets, and loved living in Prescott. Hers was a remarkable life. She will be remembered for her spirit of independence, her can-do attitude in the face of any challenge, and her generosity. She valued education and hard work. Shirley will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known her.
