The Aug. 15 editorial urged the FCC to take action against robocalls. A splendid idea! But why stop there? Let ALL unwanted robocalls be banned, including those from politicians. Unless political candidates are willing to pay my telephone bill, they have NO RIGHT to intrude on my chosen silence.
While they are at it, the FCC should consider banning the transmission of:
Warning horns, claxons or sirens, which can startle a driver, causing him to swerve to avoid an approaching, but unseen, emergency vehicle
Doorbells or chimes, which cause our canine companions to bark, annoying neighbors
The speed-talking “CYA” babble that follows commercials (nobody, especially new immigrants, can understand the rapid talk)
Have at ’em, FCC!
