Roadwork in Brief: Dexter neighborhood, Robinson Dr., Washington Ave. & Churchill Street, pavement rehab, Sundog Sewer Project

Dexter Neighborhood

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are currently working on a road and utility upgrade project along select streets in the Dexter Neighborhood. The project consists of replacing undersized water and sewer main lines, road improvements, and installing new water service connections for residents. The project completion is scheduled for spring 2018. Please be aware of the following impacts: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Oct. 22-25.

WATER MAIN — With new water main lines installed, crews will be abandoning old utilities throughout all work zones next week. This work will require a temporary water shut off. Draw enough water to accommodate your water needs during this period. Businesses and residents will be contacted by the contractor at least 48-hours prior to any work.

CAMPBELL AVENUE — The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections will continue along Campbell Avenue, from Whipple Street and Home Street, throughout the week. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor at least 48-hours prior to any construction activities on the property. Campbell will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment and flagging operations.

ACTIVE WORK ZONES — Crews will be adjusting water valves and raising manhole covers to the finished road grade along Comfort Avenue and Sonora Drive throughout the week. Minor cleanup activities will occur along Lincoln Avenue, Bird Street, Ruth Street, Dameron Drive, and Home Street. Lincoln Avenue, Bird Street, Ruth Street, Home Street, Comfort Avenue, Dameron Drive, and Sonora Drive will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that these are active work zones and to be aware of heavy equipment and flagging operations.

Robinson Drive

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on a roadway reconstruction project along Robinson Drive. The project consists of full road removal and replacement of Robinson Drive from East Gurley Street to the City limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East. This project is scheduled for completion in summer 2019. Please be aware of the following impacts: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 22-26.

WATER MAIN — The installation of new water main and services will continue throughout the week. Work will occur along Robinson Drive, between Stetson Drive and Overstreet Drive.

Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between East Gurley Street and Moore Place. Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour and be aware of reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

CONCRETE WORK — Crews will continue installing concrete curb and gutter along Robinson Drive, between Stetson Drive and Butterfield Road. This work will occur on an as-needed basis.

Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between East Gurley Street and Moore Place. Temporary sidewalk closures will be required while work is underway, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents.

PARKING AND ACCESS — To avoid any conflicts with construction equipment, and expedite completion of the project, the contractor asks that you avoid on-street parking while road construction is underway. Personnel will work with businesses and residents to maintain driveway access throughout the work zone.

Washington Avenue & Churchill Street

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are working on a roadway reconstruction project along North Washington Avenue and Churchill Street. The project consists of the removal and replacement of existing asphalt along North Washington Avenue, from East Sheldon Street to Churchill Street, and along Churchill Street from North Washington Avenue to North Arizona Avenue. The project is scheduled for completion in winter 2018. Please be aware of the following impacts: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 22-26.

WATER LINE — Crews will continue installing new water lines along North Washington Avenue, from East Sheldon Street to Churchill Street, and along Churchill Street, from North Washington Avenue to Arizona Avenue.

Portions of South Washington Avenue and Churchill Street will be closed while work is underway. Motorists may encounter narrow lanes, reduced speeds, and flaggers in the work zone. Please follow the marked detour signage to get to your destination.

STORM DRAIN — The installation of new storm drain is now complete. With this work finished, crews will continue installing catch basins at the northwest corner of the North Washington Avenue and Churchill Street intersection, and along Churchill Street, from North Washington Avenue to Arizona Avenue.

Portions of South Washington Avenue and Churchill Street will be closed while work is underway. Motorists may encounter narrow lanes, reduced speeds, and flaggers in the work zone. Please follow the marked detour signage to get to your destination.

Pavement Rehabilitation

The City of Prescott and Sunland Asphalt & Construction, Inc., are working on a pavement rehabilitation project along Willow Creek Road and Gail Gardner Way. Improvements include the removal and replacement of existing asphalt pavement along Gail Gardner Way, from Iron Springs Road to Willow Creek Road, and along Willow Creek Road, from Mitchell Road to the intersection of Green Lane and Pulliam Drive. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2018. Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Saturday, Oct. 22-27.

GAIL GARDNER WAY — Asphalt paving operations along Gail Gardner Way, from Iron Springs Road to Willow Creek Road, are now complete. Miscellaneous concrete work and minor cleanup activities will continue throughout the week. Be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, and flagging operations throughout the work zones.

WILLOW CREEK ROAD — Crews will continue milling the roadway and installing new asphalt pavement along Willow Creek Road, from Mitchell Road to the intersection of Green Lane and Pulliam Drive, next week — Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 22-24.

Work will occur throughout all times of the day and night, however, traffic control will be adjusted to accommodate for rush hour traffic. Please be aware of turning and lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone. Side streets along Willow Creek Road will only be accessible via right turn in and right turn out, as left turn movements will be restricted during paving operations. One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions, however, motorists should allow for extra time to get through the area and use an alternate route if possible.

Once asphalt paving operations are complete, crews will be performing miscellaneous concrete work and minor cleanup activities along Willow Creek Road, from Mitchell Road to the intersection of Green Lane and Pulliam Drive — Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 25-27.

Sundog Sewer Project

The City of Prescott and ALC Underground, LLC, are working on a utility improvements project. Improvements include the installation of a new water line along Miller Valley Road, from Rodeo Drive to just south of Schemmer Drive. In addition to this work, a new drainage culvert will be installed from the intersection of Schemmer Drive, crossing Miller Valley Road, and terminating at Miller Creek. This phase of the project is scheduled for completion in winter 2019.

Crews will continue sawcutting the roadway and installing new water main along Miller Valley Road, from Rodeo Drive to just south of Schemmer Drive, throughout the week — 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, Oct. 21-25. Be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zones.
