Lynn Royce Goodnight, age 83, passed away on Nov. 25, 2018, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

He will be remembered as a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Joan Payne Goodnight of Dewey, Arizona; son, Michael Lynn Goodnight and daughter-in-law, Judith Ann Goodnight (Neenah, Wisconsin); grandson, James Royce Goodnight (Appleton, Wisconsin); granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Vitse and her husband Nicholas Vitse (Grafton, Wisconsin). Other surviving family members include brother, Donald Goodnight (Susanville, California); sister-in-law, Peggy Goodnight (Tucson, Arizona); nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his mother, Lucille Cornelsen; stepfather, Virgil “Pete” Cornelsen; father, Amer F. Goodnight; and brothers, Clyde and Robert Goodnight.

Lynn was born on Sept. 9, 1935, in Arkansas City, Kansas, and later moved to Iola, Kansas, where he graduated high school. He and Nancy moved to Michigan where he began working at the Ford Motor Company Sterling Heights plant. After retiring in 1985 from his position as Maintenance Superintendent, Lynn and Nancy took time off to travel extensively around the U.S. and Canada before settling in Dewey.

Lynn worked at the Prescott Country Club doing golf course maintenance, then later worked at Quailwood Greens Golf Club. He was also a driver for New Horizons Disability Empowerment Center in Prescott Valley.

Lynn was an avid golfer and a fierce euchre player. He enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, playing computer games, and watching Arizona Diamondbacks baseball and Arizona Cardinals football.
