Traffic along Highway 69 was significantly backed near the Frontier Village Center around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, while emergency personnel handled a fatal accident.

A middle-aged man was declared dead at the scene of a vehicle accident along Highway 69 in front of the Frontier Village Center in Prescott early Friday afternoon, Nov. 16.

Emergency personal responded to the scene at about 12:45 p.m. They found a motorcyclist in the middle of the road suffering from extensive and life-threatening injuries.

The man somehow made contact with a red pickup truck and was thrown from his motorcycle, said Prescott firefighter and paramedic Jeff Jones.

Paramedics attempted to save the man’s life, but he was declared dead within about 10 minutes of them working on his wounds, Jones said.

The identity of the man has not yet been released.

Eastbound 69 was temporarily closed at Yavpe Connector while emergency personnel cleared the scene. It was reopened around 2 p.m.
