I first met Senator Karen Fann when she served on the Prescott City Council, finding her kind and cordial. After she was elected as our State Representative, and then as our State Senator, I would periodically communicate with her on issues of concern. Always willing to listen to those who would be affected by her vote, she based her actions on whatever she deemed best for the state.
With the divisions between Republicans and Democrats being many and political polarization being so deep, I write as an active Democrat to congratulate Senator Karen Fann for being chosen by her Republican colleagues as Senate president. Thank you, Karen, for your choosing principles over party and the good of the state over the good of self and placing a higher priority on personal relationships than on partisan politics.
May your strength of character and values serve to heal the divide and make Arizona an even better state.
