Deputies have arrested two 18-year-olds from Mayer for an alleged sexual encounter with a 15-year-old boy in October.
The encounter is believed to have taken place inside an abandoned building in Mayer, according to a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) news release.
Zachary Norman and Marilyn Rivera were both charged with luring a minor for sexual exploitation and sexual conduct with a minor. Rivera was booked into the Yavapai County jail in Camp Verde on Sunday, Nov. 4, where she remains in-custody with no bond yet set.
Norman was booked the day before and is facing an additional charge of custodial interference for sheltering a known runaway. The more recent incident began with the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from Cordes Lakes on Friday afternoon, Nov. 2.
It was discovered the girl had stayed overnight with Norman without the permission of her legal guardians, YCSO reported. Deputies eventually found the two at a residence on Wagon Wheel Road in the Juniper Woods subdivision of Ash Fork and brought them back to the Prescott area.
Norman admitted knowing the 15-year-old was a reported runaway, YCSO reported. His mother told deputies she briefly spoke with him when she found out the girl was missing, knowing he had seen her. He refused to cooperate and provide information on the girl’s whereabouts and condition.
Norman remains in-custody on a $2,500 bond.
