Walker Day, the annual fundraiser for the all-volunteer fire department, is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16. For early birds, a huge, community-donated yard sale opens at 9 a.m.

The event is a family friendly fundraiser for the Walker Fire Department, whose volunteer firefighters patrol and service more than 10 square miles of forest south of Prescott.

The event will be at Walker Fire Department, on Walker Road, 8 miles south of Highway 69, and will include free face painting and supervised games for children, as well as live music, courtesy of the band “Walker Road Project.”

An old-fashioned cake walk offers winners a variety of homemade cakes, and there will be a small classic car corral.

Grilled lunches will be available for $5 each (burger/dog, chips, beverage and desert). Admission is free.
