David Granirer, a comedian and mental health counselor who, himself, suffers from depression, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the Elks Theatre and Performing Arts Center, 117 E. Gurley St., in Prescott.
Granirer offers laughter -- a kind of cod liver oil for the soul -- as the best medicine for the daily stresses and tension that challenge mental health. He examines how comedy builds confidence, and and his comedy busts the stigma around mental illness. He shows audiences mental health from a different perspective while uplifting, inspiring and educating.
Granirer is a Canadian who has been honored with a Meritorious Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada.
Tickets are $15, $20 and $25, available from the Elks box office -- 928-777-1370 -- or see the website prescottelkstheater.com.
Proceeds from the show benefit the West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation. To learn more about the foundation, see the website wygcfoundation.org.
