Obituary: LaVerne Harris

LaVerne Harris, 93, known as “Verne,” passed away on July 1, 2018, in his beautiful home. He was born in Nebraska on July 27, 1924. He was a longtime resident of Prescott, Arizona.

He moved here from Southern California with his wife, Helen, after retiring.

Verne was a World War II veteran. He spent his days always working on building things out of wood and was a very multi-talented woodworker. He loved his home and gardens and fed the birds that visited everyday. He adored little Molly the Poodle and two cats.

Verne is survived by his daughter, Kaaren; son, Bruce; and two stepsons, Mike and Patrick. He had eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He will be sadly missed by all.

He will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Prescott, along with his wife, Helen, and a twin brother, LaValle Harris. There will be a memorial service for Verne at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Prescott National Cemetery.
