Dorothy M. Butlin Sevy

Dorothy M. Butlin Sevy passed away on July 8, 2018, at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Ashby St. Ledgers, England, to Alice Cecelia and Ernest Butlin, and she was the youngest of seven children.

Dorothy grew up on her family dairy farm named Newbold Comyn Farms in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England. She was a champion swimmer and diver, plus enjoyed playing field hockey on her family team. Dorothy met George Warren Sevy from Panquitch, Utah, at a dance while George was stationed in England during WWII. George and Dorothy were married in Leamington Spa. They celebrated 62 years together before George passed away 11 years ago.

George and Dorothy have five children: Ernest Blaine Sevy, born Leamington Spa, England in 1945, has been married to Judy for 52 years; George Leslie Sevy, born in Cedar City, Utah in 1947; Leland Everard Sevy, born in Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1948, has been married to Annette for 47 years; Christine Dorothy Mann, born in Leamington Spa, England in 1953, husband Tom; and Karen Fenella Sabatini, born in Sculthorpe, England in 1960, husband David. Dorothy has many wonderful grandchildren: Aaron, David, Elecia, Catalin, Lynette, Janette, Brett, Tyler, Justin, Mitchell, Nicole and Brent. We lost our dear Laina but are blessed with Naka and Emily in our lives; plus she has LOTS of wonderful great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale 85254. Burial at 12:30 p.m., at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix 85024.
