Faye Temple Long

Faye Temple Long, 80, of Thatcher, Arizona, and formerly Prescott, Arizona, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018. She was born Oct. 23, 1937, in Washington, D.C., to Lafayette Parker “Pick” Temple, Jr. and Jeannette Beatrice Friedman. As a young adult, Faye moved out West to attend the University of Arizona, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and also met her future husband, Paul. They later married in September 1959. She continued her schooling at Arizona State College in Flagstaff earning a K-8 teaching certificate. Over the years, Faye worked as a Lab Technician at the Museum of Northern Arizona; a Library Assistant at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California; and worked many years as an Instructional Aide in the Prescott Public Schools. Her areas of expertise were ceramic, lithic and ground stone analysis; archival research; and oral history. Faye is survived by her two daughters, Shelby and Lori (Sean); four grandchildren, Tyler, Connor (Taylor), Trevor, and Bailey; her brother, Dr. L. Parker “Park” Temple III (Betty); and two nieces, Patti (Mike) and Christi (Alexey). She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul V. Long, Jr., on Oct. 30, 2012. Friends and family are invited to a memorial at 9:45 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at Prescott National Cemetery. Information provided by survivors.
