Letter: Avoiding GMOs

I understand Shelby Tate’s reluctance to accept that much of our food supply is tainted with dangerous GMOs. I recommend that she – and everyone – read Jeffrey M. Smith’s well-researched book, Seeds of Deception: Exposing Industry and Government Lies about the Safety of the Genetically Engineered Foods You’re Eating.

Smith spoke at Prescott College not long ago to an overflow crowd of concerned people.

Admittedly, it takes courage to face the fact of the long list of practices, substances, and materials that the U.S. government has proclaimed “safe” in the face of indisputable evidence to the contrary.

It’s interesting to note the many such practices (including GMOs) are outlawed by European countries, which tend to promote citizens’ welfare over corporate profits.

These days, unfortunately, it’s not so much survival of the fittest as survival of the informed.

Iona Singleton, Ph.D.
