Google “Retired Orange County Sheriff’s Video,” click on “Homeless in USA Orange County,” then take a 10-minute bicycle ride alongside the Santa Ana river in Anaheim, passing both Anaheim Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Angels, and the arena that is home to the NHL Anaheim Ducks. You will be flabbergasted!
Just from the standpoint of sanitation, one has to ask how do these people bathe or even wash themselves? Where do they go to the bathroom? Where do they get their food and drinking water? How could such a thing exist in one of the richest counties in California? Are city and county officials oblivious to what’s going on, or do they simply choose not to address the situation for unknown reasons?
Unfortunately, California has recently become a “sanctuary state” and has legalized marijuana. With the continuing disregard of the homeless, including those who are alcoholics, drug abusers, and the mentally ill, will these new laws exacerbate the situation even more? Other communities and states should take notice!
