Badgers baseball can’t solve Chandler in opener

Prescott’s baseball team lost 9-1 at Chandler in the 4A Badgers’ season opener at the Adam Donnenfield Tournament Thursday, struggling from the get-go against Wolves hitters.

Badgers starting pitcher Jake Schultz lasted 3-1/3 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and walking three. At the dish for Prescott, Korey Schwartz went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Schultz and Ray Chairez had a single apiece. Jacob Police was 2 for 3 with a pair of singles.

Chandler, of the 6A ranks, scored two runs in the first inning, a run in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to run away with the game. Prescott’s lone run came in the sixth.


Prescott (0-1 overall record) will play a doubleheader at Donnenfield today. The Badgers visit 6A Mesa at 12:30 p.m., then head to Marcos de Niza in Tempe to battle 6A Cibola at 4 p.m.

Chandler makes a short trip to Arcadia in Phoenix to take on 6A Kofa (1-1) today at 1 p.m.
