Prescott Constable Ron Williams was nominated and elected president of the Arizona Constable’s Association (ACA) during its Jan. 23 meeting in Tubac.
Williams was elected constable by the citizens of Yavapai County in 2014. He was elected to general board member of the ACA in 2015, and Treasurer of the ACA in 2016.
The ACA also named Dennis Dowling, constable for the Bagdad-Yarnell precinct, the 2017 Constable of the Year. This award is given annually to an Arizona Constable who best represents their position in the local justice court precincts.
Dowling was elected Constable by the citizens of the Bagdad-Yarnell Justice Court Precinct in 2014. He was elected Presiding Constable for Yavapai County in 2016 and has served on the Arizona Constables Association executive board since 2015.
The Arizona Constable’s Association represents the 72 constables of the state and exists to support and promote the office of Constable in the state of Arizona, and to provide professional training to its members.
The Office of Constable has existed in Arizona since territorial days. Constable’s are the elected peace officers of their precinct, and serve all processes, papers and warrants out of the justice court.
