Man accused of killing his wife and daughter in Pima County
TUCSON — Pima County Sheriff’s officials say a man has been arrested in Vail for allegedly killing his wife and teenage daughter and trying to kill his son. They say 44-year-old Hernando Enriquez will be booked into jail after he’s released from a hospital.
Enriquez was found in a culvert Saturday with serious injuries along with his son. They say he’s accused of killing 43-year-old Sandra Enriquez and his 15-year-old daughter, Isabelle.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about an aggravated assault about 4 p.m. Saturday in the unincorporated area called Vail, south of Tucson.
Enriquez’s son directed deputies to the family house, where they found the bodies of Enriquez’s wife and daughter.
The deaths remain under investigation and authorities didn’t immediately release details about how the woman and teen girl died.
Motorcyclist dies after hitting side of tour bus in Phoenix
PHOENIX — Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who died after he was hit by a tour bus backing out of a private drive in north Phoenix.
Phoenix police say 40-year-old Juan Rodriguez Jr. was taken to a hospital after the collision Saturday night and was pronounced dead from his injuries.
They say neither speed nor impairment were factors in the incident.
Police say Rodriguez hit the side of a tour bus as it was backing across the lanes of North 7th Avenue.
Woman, baby injured in boat engine explosion on Canyon Lake
APACHE JUNCTION — Authorities say a woman and her baby daughter have been injured after a boat engine exploded on Canyon Lake northeast of Apache Junction.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say the engine caught fire Saturday afternoon.
They say the unidentified woman and her 7-month-old daughter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Sheriff’s officials say the baby was airlifted to a hospital with arm burns and her mother received minor injuries to both legs.
They say the explosion appears to be an accident but is being investigated.
