The Date Creek Ranch Apple Festival, a major fundraiser for the PTSA at Morristown Elementary and Rainbow Girls of Glendale, will be Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-2.
Both groups sell products made from ranch apples as well as drinks and lunch at the event, according to a news release. Additionally, organic apples from Date Creek Ranch’s orchards are available on a U-pick basis.
If apple supplies hold out, the U-pick will continue the Monday of Labor Day weekend, but the Festival is Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
With picnic tables, riparian habitat to hike, a petting zoo, wild turkeys to scout out, and fruit to munch as you pick, it is the perfect adventure for a family outing or excursion with friends, organizers said. Boxes, pickers, and wheelbarrows are available, making the picking easy.
The ranch is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Apples are $1.50 per pound.
The ranch is 22 miles northwest of Wickenburg on Highway 93; turn right between mileposts 178 and 177. Four miles more on Date Creek Ranch Road brings you to the orchards.
