Rants & Raves: Aug. 12, 2018

Got something on your mind? Tell us about it in 40 words or less.

  • Faulty public education: “In 100 years we have gone from teaching Latin and Greek in high school to teaching Remedial English in college.” Joseph Sobran.

  • Michael Shannon - Syndicated columnist. Couldn’t decide if his article about Catholic hospitals was PRO or CON. Abortion is murder of the unborn. The rest of the article depends on your faith.

  • Ever noticed this? A1 steak sauce used to come out of the bottle slowly, thick. Now it flows out quickly, watered down. Don’t we deserve notice of this change?

  • A tip for senior citizens: Soak your feet in cold(est) water you can find for 5 minutes a day. It might help your walking ability. Cold shrinks blood into smaller cells. Smaller cells can get into crevices and heal.

  • Let’s clarify the fact that The Daily Courier is not “the enemy of the people.” Others, such as the New York Times and Washington Post, with transparent prejudice and inaccurate reporting have earned this phrase by our President.

  • So why do we have our firefighters in California when we have fires here in Arizona? Thanks to environmentalists, California has 129 million uncleared dead trees and irrational policies regarding water usage. Actions have consequences!

  • Total disrespect. We have stopped watching the NFL. Stop pampering these players. They get paid way too much money for being thugs, tough guys, and anti-American.

  • Having the “right” to 950 acre-feet of water means nothing if there’s no water available. You can’t drink, brush your wteeth or flush your toilet with a “right.” One day the entire valley will be a huge sink hole.

  • Forgotten victim in the Opioid War: The patient with a genuine need for opioids, who doesn’t abuse opioids, and who cannot get opioids anymore because of all the hype. Dare you to apply the same strategies to alcohol!

  • Could those new power towers along Willow Lake Road be any uglier? Huge, rust brown and obnoxious. Was there no other way to do that job? What an eyesore blocking that great view of Willow Lake.
