Bicyclist killed in Highway 69 traffic crash

A 52-year-old woman was killed on Sept. 4 when she was struck by a van while riding her bicycle on Highway 69, Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves said.

Valerie Jean Creek, of Prescott, was headed north on the southbound shoulder at about 6:30 p.m. near milepost 291.

A van traveling south on Highway 69 crossed the white line onto the shoulder and struck the bicycle, killing Creek, Graves said.

The van’s driver has not been cited, but it is still an open investigation, Graves added.
