A full set of human remains have been excavated from a vacant lot in the 3400 block of Clearwater Drive, Prescott Police spokesman David Fuller said Tuesday.
Police were called to the scene at about 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, by a person who found what appeared to be a skull, which may have been exposed by recent rains.
Investigators and crime scene technicians carefully unearthed the remains, Fuller said, adding that “initial evidence suggests that these remains are very old.”
The Yavapai County Medical Examiner will conduct and autopsy and the remains will be examined by a forensic anthropologist.
Fuller said the police don’t know of any unsolved homicide that would match the remains found.
If you believe you may know something about the remains, you’re asked to call Prescott Police Detective Mike Kinsey at 928-777-1924.
