Yavapai College clarifies purpose of building industry discussion

A Yavapai College forum next week about construction industry workforce issues is intended to bring contracting and building trade representatives together to assess and understand their specific needs and begin developing a process for addressing the needs.

News of the guided discussion inadvertently reached a wider audience of business representatives and garnered their interest, but meeting organizers would like to clarify that space is very limited and only construction and building trade representatives need attend, a news release states.

The forum is taking place at the Yavapai College Prescott campus for central Yavapai County contracting and building representatives. A similar discussion is planned in eastern Yavapai County.

“We are looking to develop specific deliverables with building industry professionals to ensure that any program developed meets their specific needs,” said Ron Liss, YC vice president of instruction and student development. “I look forward to constructive dialog as we determine the feasibility of a program that will support the needs of our construction industry long term.”

Building industry representatives interested in participating in the discussion may call Billie Norris at 928-717-7170 or email
