Letter: To Sen. McCain

Editor:

John McCain is once again a hero going against his ‘party’ by refusing to kick 20 million people off health care. Now that’s a hero with a great big S on his chest.

From what I understand, the reason the GOP wants to repeal Obamacare, aka Affordable Care Act, is because the rich guys who put the politicians in office want their tax cut from the repeal. They don’t want to have to pay for the health care of others who can only afford it through the ACA.

The present plan, if supported by the government, is a good one — one the Republicans devised themselves when they didn’t want Single Payer. So Obama took it on, tweaked it and sent it out over the land. With time, the plan eventually helped millions get the health care they’d never been able to afford — since the GOP was also against raising the minimum wage.

So the GOP spent time and money trying to convince people that the plan was too expensive, made their premiums go up, took away choice. And now they’re trying to get rid of the ACA because they promised their rich friends they would.

Now John McCain, against all odds, is trying to save those 20 million by refusing to repeal the ACA without a comparable plan in place. To my mind, he may not be a great Republican at the moment, but he is definitely a great American.

Thank you, Senator McCain.
