Mr. Burnett

Jerry Burnett, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at the Kachina Point Nursing Home in Sedona, Arizona, following Alzheimer care there for 6 1/2 years. He was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Strong, Arkansas.

He leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Norma Burnett; his daughters, Jerry Lee Ching, Terry Burnett, Sherry Burnett and Kerry Parker; five grandsons, Travis and Brent McKown, Chad and Coby Glattfelder, and Christopher Ching; along with five great grandchildren.

Jerry was the youngest of six children. His family moved to Arizona when he was very young and he grew up in the Flagstaff area. He worked on ranches in the Cottonwood area and worked as an extra in the movies filmed around Sedona in the late ’40s.

He met his wife, Norma Sammis, while living in Flagstaff and was married in 1950.

He was one of the first workers on the Glen Canyon Dam in Page and moved to Prescott in 1961. He worked construction and eventually owned his own backhoe business.

Jerry loved the outdoors and owned many horses and mules. He often went boating on Lake Powell. He especially loved his time in Alaska catching salmon and exploring the Last Frontier.

His firm handshake, sparkling eyes and teasing manner will be missed by so many.

There will be no services at this time.
