It is not surprising to note that even a year after the presidential election, there are still those folks whining about their loss. And some are still blaming the Electoral College for the loss no less. After all, Hillary Clinton got more votes.
The bulk of her voters were mostly in heavily populated counties where she won over 80 percent of them. This is worth examining further. There are over 3,000 counties in the US and Donald Trump carried over 2,600 of them. Clinton’s votes came from few states whereas Trump’s support came from a wide enough geographic area to capture the majority of Electoral College votes.
The Electoral College was created for just this purpose ... to provide the voting public living in less populated areas to have some effect on national voting activities. And in this last presidential election, they did. Thank goodness!!!
