Letter: Not impaired

Editor:

I would like to make a “corrective” comment in regarding the “Ducey offers money to help students with disabilities” article. In reference to “students with vision and hearing disabilities,” these individuals are NOT vision impaired or hearing impaired but have vision or hearing loss.

We are not impaired but rather ... we have a disability and nothing more! Individuals with a disability are very capable people who have the ability to be successful in life day in and day out once given the accommodations to achieve success. So please, do not refer to individuals with disabilities as being impaired.
