Letter: Great police chief

On Halloween night my wife and I attended the fun event on Mt. Vernon Avenue in Prescott to watch the different costumes of young and old as they trick or treated the homes on the street, the music and other great ideas the people on this street provide yearly to us all.

While there we had the opportunity of meeting Prescott Police Chief Debora Black. She was there in full uniform doing some “street duty” with her police officers. My wife, Miriam, was totally taken back that a woman is running a pretty much men’s department. Chief Black was so friendly, so kind and also very professional in attitude and speech. Miriam had to meet this wonderful law enforcement officer and tell her how proud she was – Woman to Woman.

After about 5 minutes of talking with the Chief we thought we better let her get back to her job ... again she really showed interest in our thoughts and questions regarding Prescott, so we continued to talk with her more. Never did she not engage us, and let me tell you this Chief has a million-dollar smile and her PR skills are on the mark.

Chief Black is a winner for our wonderful town. May God bless her and her department as they go out each day and put their life on the line for us all. We love Prescott, and for sure now greatly appreciate our police force and their chief.
